This very rare truck was made by Dinky Toys. The WE Boyce Dinky Pre-War No.22D Delivery Van is a “Type 1” truck. It has “Hornby Series” stamped on the bottom of the cabin. The fan has “WE Boyce” written on the side of the truck. WE Boyce was a bicycle shop located on Archway Road in the 1930s.
The pre-WWII toy was used to promote the cycling company and was never intended to be a widely produced toy by Dinky. As a result, the limited nature of the No. 22 van made it super-exclusive, and the only example sold for $26,000 at auction.
