157. 1935 Fortune Board Game
Manufacturer: Parker Brothers
Original Price: $1*
Current value: $1,360*
Fortune was created by Parker Brothers and its full name was Fortune: The Game of Trading and Speculation. Just look at it to see the similarity with the modern game Monopoly. Only 5,000 copies of this pre-Monopoly game were created. Parker Brothers produced Fortune before the company gained the property rights to create Monopoly.
At the time Fortuna was created, the Parker brothers only had a Darrow file for the patent. They didn't want to risk the patent not passing, so Fortuna was a placeholder. Due to the rarity of the game (and the fact that it is difficult to find one in good condition, as they were produced in 1935), Fortuna is now worth over US $ 1,000 on auction sites.
