Although Chatty Kathy dolls didn't achieve the same worldwide popularity as Barbies, they were still one of Mattel's most popular toys for a time. Made by Ruth and Elliot Handler for Mattel, Chatty Kathy was a talking string doll sold between 1959 and 1965. The doll's retail price was US$$18, but many stores sold it for US$10 or less.
Chatty Cathy was the second most popular doll of the sixties (after, of course, Barbie). She went through a few makeover periods, but the first Chatty Kathy had blonde hair in a bob. You can get up to US$ 300 by reselling your Chatty Kathy on auction sites such as eBay.
