The Explorer Trunk is covered in brass sheet and has a brass lock and corners, both of which Louis Vuitton still uses to this day. The Explorer Collection was created for adventurers who travel around the world and need a sturdy trunk to withstand a long journey and inhospitable weather. The Explorer sold at Christie's for US$128,000 to US$192,000 in 2019.
