Babe Ruth is one of baseball's most famous and beloved players. His debut cards and other memorabilia often fetch high prices, so it should come as no surprise that a jersey worn by Ruth himself sold for a record price in 2019.

Ruth's New York Yankees jersey, which he wore from 1928 to 1930, sold for US$5.64 million at Hunt Auctions. Hunt said it had teamed up with Ruth's family, as well as "elite third-party collectors", to obtain the jersey, which was put on display alongside a collection of artefacts from the Sultan of Swat.
