The Remington Typewriter Company was founded in 1886 when E. Remington & Sons sold its typewriter business to Standard but allowed it to continue using the Remington name. The company was purchased by former Remington employees who had founded their own typewriter business.
The company was renamed Remington Typewriter Company in the early years of the 20th century. Some of its earliest versions were the Remington No. 1 Typewriter, a version of which sold for thousands of dollars at auction. Remington typewriters vary in price, but you can still get a few hundred dollars if your typewriter is in good condition and attracts a collector.
