The 1951 Vincent Black Lightning motorcycle holds the record for being the most expensive motorcycle of all time, having sold for almost US$1 million in 2018 in Las Vegas. It is one of approximately 19 known units that exist today, apart from the 33 original units produced.

It was originally built to order by Vincent in Stevenage, England. It was made for Australian driver Tony McAlpine and went on to build an impressive record of victories, including setting the Australian land speed record. The second most expensive bike is just half the price of this one, making it by far the winner in every aspect.

While classic cars and luxury vehicles often cost hundreds of thousands, seeing a motorcycle for the same price is a little less common. That said, that doesn't mean there isn't a market for passionate motorcycle collectors. It all depends on where you look!
