In the 1970s, in London, the Sex Pistols were born. Managed by Malcolm McLaren, the punk band's career spanned two and a half years. Despite being short, the Sex Pistols were one of the most innovative bands in the history of pop music It is punk. “God Save the Queen,” one of the band’s most infamous singles, was released in 1977.
Only a few copies of the original A&M release are still around, and one of them sold in 2019 for $15,880. The anti-establishment single, when released, earned an outright ban from the BBC. Normally, this would be suicide for a band, but the approval only made the Sex Pistols more popular.
