If you were following sports headlines a few years ago, you might have seen some stories about the Deflategate scandal. That scandal alleged that the New England Patriots, under the direction of then-quarterback Tom Brady, illegally decreased the inflation of footballs to make them harder to hold.

As a result of the incident, the Patriots were fined US$1 million and also had to surrender several of their draft picks. Shortly after the scandal, Deflategate became a huge pop culture story, and in July 2015, one of the AFC Championship balls at the center of this huge scandal was auctioned for US$ 43,740.
