A 2x4 gold brick was auctioned off, along with other rare collectibles such as the Sopwith Camel 10226, the Wooden Duck and the San Diego Comic Con Zebra Batman, making Lego history as one of the company's most expensive products. The oversized Lego was made from $ 205 in 14 carat gold.

The golden brick was originally an award given to employees who had done something extraordinary for the company. The one that was auctioned was given to a German employee in 1971. He had improved the software for selling Legos and was awarded this solid gold Lego, as well as a letter of thanks for his work.
