Hidden Disney Pins became a rage among collectors when they were first released, and the “Hidden Mickey” is one of the most coveted. They were called “Hidden Mickey” because each of the pins has a little Mickey Mouse on it. The pins were distributed to Disney employees.

The only way to get the pin was to exchange it for Cast Members. Twice a year, Cast Members received several sets of Hidden Mickey pins and could exchange them if they wanted. The first (and most expensive) Hidden Mickey can be traced back to 1971, when Disney Imagineers were designing Epcot.
