The first issue of Action Comics is the first superhero comic. It originally featured several superheroes, the most notable being Superman, and is credited with starting the superhero genre. He's also the most valuable comic of all time, so it's definitely worth digging through your old comic box to look for one of these guys.

Published in 1938, the cover features Superman lifting a green car as people flee the scene. 200,000 copies of the first issue were printed, which sold out at a surprising rate. It didn't take long for them to realize that Superman was the reason the comic did so well, soon after they were selling a million copies a month.

The comics themselves have become even more popular in recent years thanks to the work of Disney and Sony. Although a copy of this comic cost just 10 cents at the time, a pristine version could be worth up to US$ 3.2 million. This is not a joke.
